Protecting privacy

As we have said above, we believe in stories. We believe in their power to unite people in shared experience and to move us on through seeing how someone else has moved on. So there are many stories woven through the text of this book. We have, as you would expect us to, protected the privacy of the people in the stories by changing details which are unimportant to the story, details such as gender, profession, organisation, and so on. Some of Mike’s, Adrian’s and Brendan’s sporting stories involve well-known ‘personalities’, who are happy to be identified, but generally it is impossible to identify the ‘real’ person.

But the stories are nonetheless real.
